Livejournal breaking

Over the past couple of days I keep getting error messages instead of the intended page about half the time I try to access pages on livejournal. Out of interest is anyone getting similar problems or knows why? An example is:
[Error: Database handle unavailable at /home/lj/cgi-bin/LJ/User.pm line 299. @ w98]

I guess livejournal is just getting overloaded?
